Ready to Renovate!Escuela Carlos Escobar Lopez
Update September 18, 2022: Fundraising amount increased to $25,000 in response to Hurricane Fiona.
The AESARA Foundation is pleased to announce a service trip to Loíza, Puerto Rico on January 13-16, 2023! The Foundation has developed a fantastic relationship with the people of Loíza ever since the city was impacted by Hurricanes Irma & Maria. Our recent work for Loíza has been supporting the conversion of an elementary school into an emergency shelter to offer a place of refuge for those affected by natural disasters. The Foundation is planning to paint the interior and exterior of the shelter, as well as renovate the children’s room and senior medical wing. This is part of an ongoing long term development project in Loíza that was put on hold due to the pandemic. We are looking to raise $15,000 to complete this part of the project!

In 2019
As our team worked on revitalizing the exteriors of homes around the square of Loíza we understood the mayor’s broader goals of stimulating the economy and increasing tourism in Loíza.
We kicked off the project with a service trip in September 2019 and completed it during our third trip in January 2020. This trip featured several new partners/vacationers in Puerto Rico who heard about the ongoing work and came to lend a hand.
It was a huge success for Loíza and started the spark leading to many more homes now being beautified.
